We just took delivery of a new core winding machine. We designed it in conjunction with the manufacturer, with maximum quality and efficiency in mind, so that we can remain competitive in the future. It was ordered back in 2018, so it's really exciting to finally have it on-site in 2021! It will increase our production capacity by one-third and shorten lead times for customers.
We are delighted to have signed a distribution agreement with GREIF – one of the most highly respected container manufacturers in the world. GREIF is an established and successful manufacturer, with plants in 43 countries and excellent sustainability credentials.
Mussel netting is used in mussel farms to help young mussels stay on the mussel lines before they are strong enough to hold on themselves, and during rough sea conditions. Blackshell mussel netting factory in Westport has started using cardboard cores to package their netting for export rather than plastic bags, to reduce transport costs and be more environmentally friendly.
